The final slide

This photo of Ben stares out at me across the loungeroom and into the kitchen. I wonder what he would be saying and I found this quote today and thought he might agree with it.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but to slide in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow . . . What a ride!’

Oh that sums up my memory of Ben soooo well and just yesterday as I walked the dogs around the block and I saw the inevitable skid marks at our corner (I sometimes wonder if Ben 'visits' in the night and leaves the gravel sprayed in all directions) I remember Ben and sighed and his 'missing'.

Ben so loved 'doin a broadie' around our corner and I think he loved it most when he had a car full of younger brothers and cousins...who then reported to me!!!!
